Philter Walkthrough

Step 1: Deploy Philter

If you have not already, you can deploy Philter by following the instructions in the Quick Start.

Step 2: Choose the Types of Sensitive Information to Filter

Philter supports many predefined types of sensitive information and you can create your own custom types. Once you know what types of sensitive information you want to filter you can create a filter profile.

Step 3: Set the Filter Profile

The filter profile you just created needs to be saved in Philter's /opt/philter/profiles directory. There are two ways of doing this:

Method One - Manual Copy

  1. Manually copy the filter profile to /opt/philter/profiles/.

  2. Restart Philter: sudo systemctl restart philter

The filter profile is now ready for use.

Method Two - Use the Filter Profiles API

Upload the filter profile to Philter using the Filter Profiles API:

curl -k https://localhost:8080/api/profiles -d @profile.json

The filter profile is now ready for use.

Step 4: Filter Text

Send text to be filtered to Philter using the Core API. In the command below we are sending the contents of the file file.txt to Philter for filtering.

curl -k -X POST "https://localhost:8080/api/filter?c=context" -d @file.txt -H Content-Type "text/plain
